TEMPORARY OCCUPANCY

Created by Philadelphia immersive theater company Die-Cast, in partnership with ArtsWest, TEMPORARY OCCUPANCY is a digital immersive performance piece that explores isolation during a time of isolation – inventing new modes of performance in the process.  Using a single hotel room as the location for a series of nine short pieces, TEMPORARY OCCUPANCY explores how our lives are connected by more than the physical rooms we share.

Commitment to Anti-Racism

We at ArtsWest stand in solidarity with our BIPOC artists, audiences, and communities in their expressions of grief and calls for justice. Working for racial equity and dismantling white supremacy is our only option if we hope to create a society in which every single human life is valued and cherished. As an organization, we are committed to educating ourselves, evaluating where we are, and taking action to help right these wrongs. To this end, we are committed to creating a comprehensive antiracism plan to guide our work going forward.  We are looking forward to posting updates as the work grows and expands.

Theatre for an Empty Space

While the timeline for reopening our theaters remains uncertain, the need for art and connection in this time is stronger than ever.  We plan to announce a full season of live, in-person theater to be produced once we know it’s safe to gather again in the numbers we’re used to.  In the meantime, we are seizing the opportunity to explore what the act of theater can look like while we are required to stay apart.

To that end, we are thrilled to announce a new series of programming we’re calling THEATER FOR AN EMPTY SPACE.
