Are the shows at ArtsWest appropriate for children?
Generally speaking, no. We won’t turn you away if you bring a youngster older than 5 with you, but we don’t recommend most of our shows for anyone under 14. The exceptions for the 2010-2011 Season are Shipwrecked! An Entertainment, and A Tuna Christmas. Performances for the Summer Musical Theater Academy are also family-friendly and appropriate for general audiences.

Our Official Stance: Age appropriateness is the responsibility of the ticket buyer, but in no case shall children under 5 be admitted unless specifically excepted. Children must be able to sit in their own seat and stay for the entire program. No “babes in arms;” each person must have a separate ticket.

Are there any good places to get dinner and/or drinks before and/or after the show?
Why, yes. We particularly like West 5 and Elliott Bay Brewery. You can find other options on our Nearby Dining page.

How do you select Artists for the Gallery?
In January we put out a call for Visual Art Submissions with a deadline sometime in March. Visit our Submit Art page for more details.

How would I audition for plays at ArtsWest?
We attend the Theatre Puget Sound General Auditions every year and invite actors to callbacks from there. Visit tpsonline.org for more information about those auditions.

How do you select Artists for the Gift Gallery?
We are always interested in viewing new artisans creating high quality pieces.  Interested artists should contact Gallery Director, Nichole DeMent via email at nicholed@artswest.org with images and information about the work and the artist, either through a link to a website or as a few small sized jpg attachments in an email. For more information on how to submit art click here.

Do you accept new play submissions?
ArtsWest accepts only scripts submitted by agents and other literary theatrical professionals. Northwest playwrights can submit a synopsis of their play and a 10-page sample of their work. Average response time is six months.  We do not accept unsolicited scripts.
